The production is excellent here, which is rare, considering the year this was released.
I'd say that this actually is more closely related to modern DM than old school, because of the quicker rhythm and tight riffs. The riffs actually remind me a bit of thrash in that they are razor sharp and lightning fast, unrelenting, so if you're a fan of faster-paced DM with a cleaner sound, go for this.
