Omron Cx Programmer 9.3
I am new to Omron PLC and CX-One software so please bear with me. I am using the CX-Programmer 9.3 version. I am trying to connect to CJ1M PROCESSORS CPU12 AND CPU22. I need to know a couple of things. First is a pin out for the serial communication cable.
I found what I think it should be on line, but still struggling to communicate. It showed a straight through 2-2. 5-9 (first number PC side, female) with PC side jumpered 1-6-4. And 7-8 On the PLC side (male) the jumpers are 7-9. 4-5 Second how should I configure my comm port (com1) on my computer and how do I configure the software or will this auto configure? I am connection direct to either/or PLC's and I don't know exactly which ports I should use.
Any help will be greatly appreaciated. Here is a link to the cable pinout. The attached images show the setup within CX-Programmer.
Double click on the PLC at the top of the tree view. See the plc setup image.
Choose CJ1M, then click Settings. Choose the CPU number you want to connect to. Now click the Settings button next to the Network type. See Comm setup image. Click on the Driver tab.

Select the correct Comm port. Default should be Toolbus and 19200 baud.
Hope this will help. If you click yes then CX One will test all PLC types, Baudrates and protocols until your PLC Com port setting is found. If nothing is found you probably have a cable problem. Make sure too that RS Linx is not running in the background as this will hog the PC com port. Now that's a reminder I had forgotten about. I changed the cable and still couldn't communicate. I had forgotten that RSLinx holds the comm port hostage, even when not booted up.
The msg was that the comm port was being used by another application and it didn't dawn on me. That's sad as I use AB software all the time and do know this. Thanks for the reminder. I'll have to test it when I get back in the plant.
