Click to expand. Which multi disc games? The game I can see - specifically Assassins Creed 3, seems to take a trick out of Max Payne 3's book, where instead of having two 6+ GB files, the publisher has opted to split the 2nd disc into several 2gb DLC sized chunks and has also presumably done any necessary rejigging in the code to keep it working and referencing the right locations. This is of course different to the retail 2 discs, and allows them to sell it in the marketplace as it looks like the 360 itself only supported 1 main game file on digital or something along those lines. So for ones where they have done the work already and split up the 2nd disc for sale on the 360 marketplace I can see support for those with the second disc treated as DLC which the emulator supports. But for games where previously the publisher hasn't done the necessary work to split up the second disc for digital sale on the 360 marketplace and if Microsoft doesn't add in extra features to the emulator I can't see support for those games happening. Bye bye ME2/3.

Click to expand.Well if the digital version exists like with AC3, then just like other games that only have the 1 disc they need only do a check on the first disc, and from that allow them to download the digital version for XB1, since when the game runs it is running the digital version, not like they are swapping the discs. Only issue is GOTY type releases with DLC discs with no checks or restrictions on who can install the DLC (like you could share it among all your friends and all could install the DLC for free). There is no way around that unless they add a second source or disc signature or whatever they use to validate the disc, which would be for the 2nd DLC only disc and assume you own the game on disc (disc 1) as well. Though this can be abused if 1 person uses the DLC disc and a 2nd person uses the game disc, then both get game+DLC for price of 1 GOTY edition.

So if they can add in the 2nd source it would depend how much the publishers suspect it can be abused vs the inconvenience to genuine owners of the DLC on disc who don't share it around and only want to play the DLC they own. Only game I may of been slightly interested in was FO:NV but since I run it on PC with mods and Bethesda likes to overprice their DLC on Xbox (£20 for DLC alone during a sale when the GOTY edition is £10 on disc? Yeah right.) I've decided I'm long past caring about it.

Yeah right.) I've decided I'm long past caring about it. This BC shit is not what i expected. You can't 'install' the game while offline. You can't even disconnect. The disc will just sit there and do absolutely nothing.

And when you can install it, you're not installing it off your disc. You're fuckin' downloading the entire thing. Wouldnt bother me, except that you still need to run the disc to play it! The hell kind of stupid shit is this. With PC, i can install off a disc, collect my updates and be on my merry way. Put the disc on the shelf and never use it again.

Click to expand.I'm trying to figure out if you're for real right now or not. I'm going to assume you aren't just trying to troll. You can't install the BC games offline because you have to download the file that allows you to emulate the game, and yeah you have to have the disc because that's how they verify you own it. Don't go throwing around the 'well with PC' bullshit either because that's all digital or you have to enter in a registration code, and if you have the digital copies of the games on X1 you don't have to have a disc either.

And what i do with those discs is my free will as long as the 'copy' is not distributed to others.

The fact that emulation has to occur to play our OWN games even until this day is fuckin' pathetic. I can run my PS2 games without no internet connection, with no emulation. Just a tiny ass piece of software that can fit on an 8MB memory card. How pathetic by today that we are no longer in control of what we own. Says clear as day, i'm allowed one back up at any given time (therefore, i treat my digital version as a back up), as long as that back up is not distributed to any other person or party. A back up must be created in the form of an ISO. All my PS2 games are ISOs, because the dvd drive doesnt even work. I'm so glad that i still have my 360. Cause this X1 BC crap is worthless. I dont mind emulation as long as i obviously own it, but the fact i have to directly download the entire game to play it is even more retarded.

Why can't the 'emulation' software actually be installed and just treated like an app that gets updated over time? I mean seriously, everything is an app these days.

Then when you pop in a 360 disc it knows what to do from there. If i have to use the disc to play it, fine whatever. Just as long as long as i dont have to be logged in when it happens (unless its to download dlc. I mean why online. WHY is online always so enforced on everyone these days. Its like when the Xbox One was designed to be an 'always online' experience, they werent lying. Because that shit hasnt changed from day one.

I love the backwards compatibility but I think Microsoft is leaving money on the table here. Why no store integration?

As it is, to play a 360 game you either have to purchase the disk (after looking up the list on a website) or go to the web and download the game (again, after knowing beforehand that the game is compatible). Both require the user to do a lot of digging, and most users wont even know it's an option. Why not include 360 games in the xbox one store? You could have a 360 games tab, sell them for 15 or 20 bucks. Every month you could highlight the new games that are available. Hell, I don't even think they high-lite the 360 games that gold members can get for free each month. It just doesn't make any sense.

Microsoft is usually good at selling things. I know they would have to back into the 360 store through the xbox one to do it, but it certainly seems doable (you can do it on a pc right?). In the future, hopefully. I'm just worried that they'll leave it as is and then decide six months from now that no one really cares about backwards compatibility - which is sort of like deciding that no one like a secret, off-menu dish because no one orders it. Personally, I think a lot of gamers would plunk down 15 or 20 bucks if they saw an option to download Borderlands, gears of war 3, Halo Wars etc etc. I love the backwards compatibility but I think Microsoft is leaving money on the table here.

Do you really think the average gamer boots up their xbox one and says 'I wonder what I can buy'. Goes to the store and then thinks to himself/herself 'gee, I wonder if there's an external, completely unreferenced Miscrosoft website with additional games for sale that for some reason they've neglected to even mention on the console's built in store.'

This really isn't that difficult to understand. Why would anyone think that they have to go to a website to buy a game when the console has its own store? This really isn't that difficult to understand. Click to expand.Gee I wonder why anyone would go on XBOX.com to buy XBOX games. Man, who would have thought that xbox.com would have xbox games, that's fucking crazy talk.

Oh you know what else is crazy talk? Expecting Microsoft to create an entirely extra store on the X1 for 104 games. Like I said, I expect them to add one later on when there's enough games to actually justify it, until then anyone who finds it crazy that in order to buy Xbox 360 games on the Xbox website needs to rethink their priorities. Click to expand.Ah yes let's take the very intelligent argument he's presented and take it to the utmost absurd end, knowing full well what he said and meant. See it makes sense for the Xbox One to have a store on it for the Xbox One games, but you're wanting a store for the Xbox 360 games on the Xbox One, which yeah if there was actually a decent amount of 360 games on the X1 it would make sense, but there are only 104 of them currently.

As I keep saying, once there's actually a good amount it needs to be done. Keep arguing whatever you want though, it's obvious you're ignoring what anyone else says, it's obvious you don't understand anything.
